Where was Poldark filmed?

All the Poldark locations are easy day trips from Bonython - St Breward and Charlestown to the east, Porthcothan, St Agnes Head and Wheal Coates to the north, and Botallack, Levant, and Porthgwarra to the west. The coves and beaches are quite as beautiful as they look on screen, but all are deceptive, changing from sunny, peaceful places to dreadful deathtraps for ships on a lee shore when gales howl.

The closest, just a mile from Bonython, where scenes of the terrible shipwreck at night were filmed on the beach, is Church Cove, Gunwalloe, next to Dollar Cove, site of many famous shipwrecks, and named for the silver coins which are said to wash up on the beach to this day.

This pretty corner of the Lizard is a peaceful place where you can visit the beautiful church of St Wynwallow, known as The Church of the Storms. Walk on the beach and the springy cliff turf, explore the rockpools, and sniff the air to know you are somewhere quite magical that lives forever in memories.

When you look again at the photographs you take all along this coast, you will not believe the sea and the sky can have been so blue, but when you come back again you will say "they really are".
