Mews Cottage Self Catering Holiday Accommodation in Cornwall

At the centre of the 16th century Manor Farm courtyard of buildings is one of the most interesting buildings. Originally thatched and used for housing the Estate Manager, upper parts of the building had incorporated a pigeonnery within the thick granite walls. Converted and modernized for residential use some forty years ago, The Mews Cottage has recently been enlarged and updated by incorporating a part used as a former ‘private Chapel’.

Now comprising three large bedrooms, each with its own bath or shower room and WC, two are upstairs and one on the ground floor. There is a dining hall, separate kitchen with breakfast table and charming sitting room with a 32” flat-screen TV. Wood burning stoves are in both dining and sitting rooms.

All rooms face south across its two private courtyards, one with gravel and sun loungers and the other with lawn.

Parking at the rear is accessed from the Estate’s private road, adding to the quietness of the setting.

Furnishings are modern and tasteful and luxury equipment enables guests sharing to enjoy considerable comfort. Beds are equipped with high-quality cotton sheets and duvets. The kitchen is complete with crockery, cutlery glassware and utensils to cater for most occasions. The courtyard has a small outbuilding for barbecue apparatus if weather permits.

The beautiful and renowned Bonython Estate Gardens are available to guests to enjoy the tranquility beyond the cottage’s own courtyards. For those who want to explore further, the magic of the Lizard peninsula is close by. Guide books are available to help the intrepid – though many parts are now rightly famous – Southern Cornwall retains quiet places, even in the height of summer.
