Camellias
As Camellias are a very early flowering plant ,the policy has been to plant the later flowering varieties. So the garden as it opens in April the show of Camellia x Williamsii "elegant beauty" Camellia xWilliamssi" Debbie", Camellia reticulata "Leonard Messel." Camellia salvernensis "Mary Phoebe Taylor. Camellia Japonica "Pink Champagne" all flower at the same time and many more late flowering varieties.
Rhododendrons
At the end of April the garden is awash with colour from the many varieties of Rhododendrons which are to be found in the garden. Rhododendron "Sapho", "Saffron Queen", Pink Pearl" "Percy Wiseman" "Countess of Haddington and not forgetting the magnificent "Loderi King George".
The Azalea collection is as colourful as the Rhododendrons, as are the Pieris due to the acid soil they all thrive.
